Gift Me Japan’s current international shipping service
Orders are normally processed within one to two business days. After dispatch, estimated transit is 5–20 days for most destinations and 10–20 days for South America. These are estimates rather than guaranteed arrival dates, and they do not include processing, customs clearance, or final delivery by the local postal service.
The current standard flat rates are:
- United States: US $15
- Europe: €10
- Canada: CAD $16
- Mexico: MXN $200
- Australia: AUD $17
- New Zealand: NZD $20
- Selected Asian countries: US $12 or the local equivalent
- Selected South American countries: US $15 or the local equivalent
Eligible orders of US $150 or €130 or more after discounts may receive free standard shipping. The rate and eligibility displayed at checkout are the ones that apply. Gift Me Japan may upgrade a shipment at no extra cost, but does not downgrade the selected service.
How early should you order a gift?
Start with the date the gift is needed, then work backward from the full journey—not only the transit estimate. Allow time for order processing, weekends or Japanese public holidays, customs review, and the destination postal service.
For a birthday or fixed celebration, ordering early is safer than relying on the shortest estimate. If timing is tight, consider telling the recipient that a parcel is coming so they can watch for customs or pickup notices. No international service can guarantee that customs will finish within a particular number of days.
Tracking and split shipments
A tracking number is emailed after dispatch. Monitor it until delivery and respond promptly if customs or the carrier requests information. Some parcels are held for pickup rather than delivered again automatically.
Orders may contain up to 25 items. If an order weighs more than 2 kg, it may be divided into separate parcels with different tracking numbers and arrival dates. Customs can assess each parcel separately, so one part of an order may arrive before another.
Customs, duties, and import rules
International shipping charges do not always include taxes, duties, or carrier handling fees. If these amounts are not collected at checkout, the recipient may need to pay them before delivery. The destination’s authorities—not the store—determine the final assessment.
Food, cosmetics, and some materials may be restricted in particular countries. Check the destination’s current import rules before ordering and provide the recipient’s full name, complete address, postal code, and reachable contact information. If an item cannot be shipped, Gift Me Japan’s policy states that the affected item will be cancelled and refunded.
